Boston Dynamic’s humanoid robot ‘Atlas’ has added a few new skills to its repertoire.

In a new video, Atlas can be seen performing a handstand before going into a cartwheel in an impressive gymnastics routine.

“First, an optimization algorithm transforms high-level descriptions of each manoeuvre into dynamically-feasible reference motions,” the team working on the project explained.

“Then Atlas tracks the motions using a model predictive controller that smoothly blends from one manoeuvre to the next.”

Described as “the world’s most dynamic humanoid robot,” footage has previously been released of Atlas performing a parkour routine as well as a backflip.
