bott provides storage solutions for Multimatic Motorsport

Multimatic Motorsport

Multimatic is a privately-held, global technology provider to the automotive industry. The company’s technology is embodied in the services it provides, the products it creates and the motorsport programmes it competes in. bott was a partner of Multimatic Motorsports when it ran Ford Chip Ganassi Racing’s assault on the FIA World Endurance Championship with the Ford GT, from 2016 to 2019.
Multimatic Motorsports Europe, led by George Howard-Chappell, recently relocated to brand new facilities at Arrow Park, Brackley. As bott had previously kitted out the workshop for the Ford GT WEC programme at Greatworth Park, the company was approached by Multimatic Motorsports to provide solutions for the extensive new workshop fit-out plan.

Speciality workshop areas

The purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility comprises speciality workshop areas for the varying activities of the team’s engineers, mechanics and management. The first areas to be fully functional by July 2019, were the main Race Bays, Supplementary & Sub-Assembly Bays, Composites Area and the Electronics & Data Room, with a Machine Shop and Stores Area progressing later. It was essential that the main areas were up and running in time for the team to compete in the summer rounds of the British GT Championship, to fight for the GT4 title with the Ford Mustang GT4. The team also needed three mobile maintenance trolleys versatile enough to travel from the workshop to the pit garages on race days.

Design & deliver

Multimatic Motorsports took advantage of bott’s custom design & build service. This included on-site consultation, 2D/3D design proposals and full installation for the 29,000+ sq. ft. site. In order to advise on a properly planned workspace, Paul Maynard, Project Sales Manager at bott - met up with Multimatic’s Mike Horn for a tour. Each workshop area had its own specific requirements, depending on the various activities performed by the team. With Mike’s input, Paul created bespoke solutions for the different areas, with configurations and layouts designed to improve both efficiency and productivity. Paul recommended bott cubio range for its high-quality, reliability and the capacity to deliver in the most demanding situations.

Stylish and smart solutions

The workplace storage products aid fast retrieval, whilst reducing the risk of tool damage and loss of components, ensuring a tidy and safe working environment - essential for the world of motorsport. As well as requiring high-performing products, Multimatic Motorsports was looking for stylish and smart solutions to compliment the aesthetics of the brand-new facility. From the race bays through to the electrical department, the team was supplied with a professional, contemporary and fully functional workspace, in time for the British GT Championship.

"We were delighted to be able to work with bott again on the fit out of the new building. They did an excellent job for us at Greatworth Park and the work at Arrow Park for our new building is even better – a truly outstanding service of which all the team members are very proud." - George Howard-Chappell, Team Principal at Multimatic Motorsports
