Supporting Special Effect - The gamer's charity

Something a bit different on bimstore today...introducing the #bimstorebentley!

We were recently contacted by our friend Tim Clark from Wienerberger, one of the great manufacturers we currently host here on bimstore, who wanted to tell us a little bit about an event he and his son Adam are taking part in through his volunteering for a charity called Special Effect.

Special Effect is a unique charity who uses technology to enhance the quality of life of people with physical disabilities. They put the fun and inclusion back into people’s lives by helping them to play video games – whether it be FIFA, Minecraft or Mario Kart - through the use of technology such as modified joy pads and eye-control systems. Because everyone's abilities are different Special Effect meet with people to find out what they want to play and exactly what they need to play it, meaning that every system they recommend or loan can be completely personalised. The charity is bringing family and friends together, having a profoundly positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.

GameBlast16 is a marathon gaming event which is to be held on 26th-28th February 2016. For someone who is passionate about gaming, GameBlast16 is the perfect way to have fun and raise money at the same time! Tim is a huge motorsport fan, in particular the Blancpain GT Series, Sprint and Endurance – and of course the Bentley team, (hence the choice of car) and has created this team to raise money and make a difference. In honour of those amazing drivers of the past, present and future that have risked their lives in the pursuit of speed and the win, Tim and Adam will be racing twelve, 50 lap races of the most exhilarating and challenging track in the world, Belgium's Circuit de Spa Francorchamps on Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One. This will be a full 24hrs plus of racing, resulting in 600 laps and 24hrs of racing....armchair style!

As part of this event, bimstore were over the moon to get the opportunity to sponsor Adam’s car, which has of course been bedecked in our signature colour, yellow – and yes, it wouldn’t be bimstore if Ermintrude didn’t make an appearance!

Tim has put in some serious man hours into getting the #bimstorebentley looking this good so it goes without saying that we’d absolutely love to get Tim and Adam some more donations. If you have a few pounds that you could spare to support this fantastic charity, please CLICK HERE where you will be able to donate to Adam, the ‘driver’ of the #bimstorebentley or Tim, who will be driving a white Bentley with multiple sponsors, including his employer, Wienerberger.

We really hope as many people as possible will support this fantastic charity. To keep up to date with GameBlast16 you can follow the event on Twitter @gameblast16 and you'll find Special Effect at @SpecialEffect.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about the event including why Tim has chosen to support this charity, as well as details of how will be able to follow the races on Twitch and YouTube. Oh and of course, more images of the fantastic #bimstorebentley so watch this space!

Changing Radiators? Why would you do that?

Posted 02.05.2024

Whilst radiators are being installed on a daily basis in new build homes up and down the country, the majority of radiators purchased are installed in existing homes because their owners have decided to upgrade their homes and their heating systems. And there are a host of reasons why they might do that – from needing to, to doing so because they can!
