WuduMate has been involved in helping to design multi faith facilities since the company started in 2007. Wudu is the Muslim act of ritual cleansing performed before prayer, which involves the washing of the face, head, hands, arms, and feet. Cleanliness is an extremely important aspect of Islam, and wudu should be undertaken in clean running water.
The WuduMate Classic is central to WuduMate's range of footbaths and accessories for wudu. This model enables the safe, hygienic, comfortable, and dignified performance of wudu by adults and children and, like every WuduMate model, can be configured with some level of accessibility for disabled users.
WuduMate has always listened attentively to its customers around the world, thereby improving design and manufacturing to achieve excellent product functionality and quality. The Classic started life as The Commercial in 2008. This product design, while innovative, was just the beginning of the development of today's CSA (Canadian Standards Association) certified Classic, whose design improves the user's experience through its great attention to ergonomic detail.
No less attention was paid to the Pillar Tap (Square), also CSA certified, which, when installed with the Classic, has the spout in exactly the right position and at the right angle to minimise splashing. This means that the floor remains dry and therefore safe, and that grey water is not splashed back onto the person performing wudu, invalidating the wudu ritual.
The WuduMate Classic was recently chosen as a finalist in the Positive Impact category of the Architizer A+Product Awards. This ablution basin has proved its suitability for a wide variety of settings but has had the most positive impact in commercial buildings throughout the world. Clients often follow the advice given in “Diversity Matters – A Guide to Best Practice Multi-Faith Room Design” to involve all potential users of the space, whether they are of any particular faith or none.

This fosters mutual understanding and respect and helps all employees to feel welcome, regardless of their background or beliefs. Positive feedback from happy staff demonstrates that the inclusion of a WuduMate Classic “…eliminates the awkwardness of performing pre-prayer ablution in public bathrooms” and that people are “proud to work for a company that is committed to making everyone feel welcome.”
Currently, many companies want to achieve optimum productivity levels by having their staff working together more often in person, back in the office. They need to be able to attract a diverse team, and they want to retain a happy, constructive workforce. Creating a place for quiet contemplation or prayer is not an expensive addition to a workplace design but can make a significant difference to the daily working life of employees.
