Background
Located alongside Mosman’s Avenue Road, The Archibald Residences’ charming facade of refined geometries, sophisticated materiality and striking architectural gestures reimagines the concept of a premium boutique apartment development against the vibrant backdrop of Sydney’s stunning North Shore suburb.
Comprising eleven high-end dwellings, all mindfully embraced by sprawling entertainment areas, as well as a spacious penthouse that occupies the building’s entire top floor, this luxurious residential project by PBD Architects and Heaton Group Property Developers celebrates the area’s signature village-like lifestyle. Named after Archibald Mosman, a Scottish-born merchant, grazier and whaler who was foundational to the suburb’s early development, the building echoes this urban legacy, bringing an aspirational fusion of high-end architecture and future-forward functionality to one of the city’s most sought-after locales.

Challenge
To bring this exquisite vision to life, it was essential to select design solutions that resonated with The Archibald Residences’ steadfast commitment to luxury, performance and sustainability. In addition, in the premium residential market, there is a clear expectation from discerning buyers for seamlessly integrated, high-performance amenities like instant filtered water systems, which made this feature a non-negotiable design element for a development of this level.
As a result, it became paramount to integrate a high-quality filtered water system that met the expectations of their future users and reflected the project’s uncompromising architectural vision. The high-performing product had to boast a compact, minimalist design that would be easy to integrate and complement the high-end finishes, without overbearing the space with a bulky aesthetic.
“Billi’s water systems were the perfect choice for The Archibald Residences. Their design seamlessly blends with our high-end finishes, and their reliability ensures our residents enjoy premium water quality” - William Heaton

Solution
When it came to selecting the systems for all eleven kitchens, William Heaton, the Principal of Heaton Group Property Developers, didn’t hesitate. A trustworthy relationship between Billi Australia and Heaton Group Property Developers, only reinforced by the manufacturer’s leading market position, made Billi’s premium Boiling & Chilled Filtered Water Systems a natural fit.
“We’ve been working with Billi for over 15 years now,” William says. “Their service has been second to none, and we specify them on all our projects.” He recalls the tap’s simple, streamlined profile that drew William to the manufacturer’s offering all these years ago. “I just loved the look of it,” he enthuses. “I know it sounds simple, but it had this clean and sharp look, and was very efficient.”
This initial appeal of the tap’s aesthetics and optimised design proved to be a lasting one. Today, Billi remains William’s go-to, and The Archibald Residences development is a brilliant example of this long-standing synergy.
This minimalist expression proved to be the perfect fit for the high- end, contemporary interiors of these boutique Mosman residences. Working with the final interior selections and colour finishes guided by Platform Architects Manly, the taps were specified in a sophisticated Matte Black finish in all eleven kitchens, harmonising with the dwellings’ elegant, subdued palette of sandy neutrals, whites and dark, deeper shades. Emerging from the striking, white marble kitchen islands with quiet self-assurance, the unobtrusive taps reimagine the practicality of state-of-the-art filtered water systems as intentional design gestures.
But this undeniable aesthetic pull isn’t the only reason why Billi was the preferred choice for these interiors. William points to the systems’ spatial efficiency as another crucial quality for boutique projects where space – and space optimisation – is essential. “The systems fit comfortably under the sink and don’t take up a lot of space,” he explains. “They’re very economical from that point of view.”
This refined profile is underscored by the systems’ advanced filtering technology, energy-efficient, constant hot water delivery and the taps’ enduring composition, aligning with the project’s holistic design strategy, and meeting the expectations of sophisticated Mosman residents head on.
“Billi’s water systems were the perfect choice for The Archibald Residences. Their design seamlessly blends with our high-end finishes, and their reliability ensures our residents enjoy premium water quality,” William says, his confidence stemming from a proven track record of successful collaborations, such as the exquisite Balgowlah Residences, where Billi previously supplied their signature Lever Tap in Gunmetal Grey for all 17 dwellings. “We genuinely think that this development is going to be the most compelling building in Mosman. And it helps that we’ve got wonderful appliances, like Billi,” he concludes, highlighting the brand’s role as a continuous, reliable supplier and industry partner that has delivered over multiple long-term projects. “It’s a formula we’ve used for several years, we know it works.”
