Legrand Simplifies Fire Stopping Installation Methods for Contractors
EZ-Path allows cables passing through fire rated walls to be replaced or added to without affecting the integrity of the wall or creating operational disruption that can result in costly by-products such as dust and debris. This new installation method means the EZ-Path devices can now be fixed directly inside and onto a cable tray, cable ladder or cable basket, which passes through the wall, removing the need to use specific wall fixing plates to ensure compliance. It makes the solution ideal for retrofit applications where cable management is already installed, as the EZ-Path devices can simply be added to the existing infrastructure.
Up to seven EZ-Path devices can be fitted within cable trays to accommodate cabling that may need upgrading in future. EZ-Path can also be used in configurations alongside traditional methods of fire stopping, such as for permanent power cables that are unlikely to require replacement or maintenance during their lifetime.
In addition, recent fire testing of Legrand’s Swifts cable ladder and cable tray highlighted that both could withstand collapse in a fire event for up to two hours. Installing EZ Path, which is also tested to two hours, on two-hour fire rated cable tray means clients benefit from two hours of proven containment performance, ensuring cable management systems carrying critical circuits will not prematurely collapse and cause obstruction during an emergency.
