A homeowner in Bromsgrove needed to move their boiler as part of a new kitchen renovation in the property.
The Brief
The new location was approximately four metres from the old one, which required a complete re-piping of the heating system. The existing setup was a complex network of old pipework, including separated flow and return primaries from a one-pipe system, all connected to an old cylinder cupboard that was being removed. The project involved re-routing hot, cold, flow, and return pipework, as well as extending the gas line to the new utility room. The added challenge was navigating the new pipework through tight spaces, including under steel beams and through wooden joists.

Our Solution
The installer chose PolyPlumb® Enhanced fittings and 22mm straight lengths of plumbing and heating barrier pipe to tackle this challenging job. Flexibility and ease of installation were critical, and the PolyPlumb® Enhanced system provided a perfect solution with its unique In-Cert® feedback technology that provides haptic feedback - a slight twist lets the installer know the fitting is correctly inserted without needing to mark the pipe. This is also great in hard to reach places with low visibility. The white pipework and fittings offered a clean, aesthetic option, which was a bonus for any visible pipework in the property.

The Result
The job was completed with exceptional speed and tidiness. The flexibility of the PolyPlumb® Enhanced fittings and straight-length pipework allowed the installer to easily route it underneath steel beams and through wooden joists, saving a significant amount of time. The intuitive design of the fittings, with their haptic feedback system, ensured a secure and reliable connection every time. Following guidance from Polypipe Building Products, the system was pressure-tested to a required 18 bar, giving the installer and homeowner peace of mind that it was a "fit and forget" solution.
Customer Testimonial
Pointy Robert Clarke, owner of PPH Pointy Plumbing & Heating Services, commented:
“With the routes we had to take, flexibility and ease of installation was key. PolyPlumb® Enhanced to the rescue. These white fittings are a fantastic option to keep on the van as a lot usually hide plastic pipework but with these if you do need to use them on show it gives you the option as well.
“The flexibility of the pipework passing underneath steels and through wooden joists sped us up tremendously, as well as knowing that it was 'fit and forget' once the ceilings and walls are covered. We pressure-tested before leaving to a reassuring 18 bar."
