One of Britain's longest established family owned manufacturing groups, Carver Group has grown from a local enterprise founded in Walsall in 1776 by Joseph Carver into an international manufacturing group with operations a cross the UK, Germany, France, Ireland, the Netherlands and Canada, serving customers in more than 50 countries worldwide.
The anniversary places Carver Group among a rare group of British businesses that have successfully navigated more than two centuries of economic change, industrial revolution, global expansion and technological transformation, all while remaining under family ownership.
To mark the occasion, employees across the Group's international network of businesses and branches including the SPC team came together on 16 June 2026 for coordinated celebrations, reflecting on the company's 250-year heritage while looking ahead to its future ambitions.
To commemorate the occasion, employees across the Group's international network of businesses and branches came together on 16 June 2026 for coordinated anniversary celebrations, uniting more than two centuries of accumulated heritage with a clear-eyed focus on the future.
David Carver, Chairman and seventh-generation family representative, said:
"I feel an enormous sense of pride. Eight generations of our family have now played a role in driving this business forward, each facing the challenges of their own era, and each leaving their mark. Reaching 250 years is an extraordinary achievement, but it is also a moment to look ahead. Our success has always been built on the commitment of our people, the loyalty of our customers and a willingness to adapt to changing markets."
Tim Carver, Non-Executive Chairman, said:
"Two hundred and fifty years as a family business is a phenomenal achievement, and one that reflects the dedication of every individual who has been part of the Carver story. The business has endured and grown by remaining attuned to the evolving needs of its customers, transforming, generation by generation, into the international organisation we see today. From humble beginnings, successive stewards of this company have shaped its direction with foresight and resolve, ensuring Carver Group remains as relevant to its markets today as it was at its foundation. As we reflect on the past, it is the future that will define the next chapter of our story."
Today, Carver Group comprises a portfolio of specialist manufacturing and engineering businesses, including Applied Comfort, Biddle Air, Carver Clamps, Cooltherm, Powrmatic, SPC, Thermoscreens and Widney Leisure — supported by dedicated competence centres for manufacturing, project management and innovation. Together, these businesses serve customers across the HVAC, retail, industrial and public sectors, helping organisations improve the cost-efficiency, quality and comfort of air within the built environment.
The Group's strategic focus is firmly placed on sustainable, profitable growth within the HVAC marketplace, a sector of increasing global significance as businesses and governments alike prioritise energy efficiency, indoor air quality and the decarbonisation of building infrastructure.
Aidan Killeen, Group CEO, said:
"Over recent years, Carver Group has grown significantly and established a strong platform for continued expansion, building a connected portfolio of businesses focused on delivering sustainable HVAC solutions for commercial and industrial customers. We are small enough to listen closely to our customers, yet large enough to support the most complex requirements. Our success has always been driven by the quality of our people, and that will remain our north star long into the future."
As Carver Group enters its 251st year of trading, the anniversary stands not merely as a celebration of history, but as a reaffirmation of the values, family ownership, customer partnership, technical excellence and adaptive ambition, that have sustained the business across 25 decades. The Group looks forward to the next chapter with confidence, capability and the same entrepreneurial spirit that has defined it since 1776.
