Take a look at our case studies to see how we help manufacturers get ready for BIM!

Don’t just take our word for it when we say we know a thing or two about BIM. Take a look at our case studies and testimonials to see how we have helped manufacturers, both big and small; get ready for BIM - with the highest quality BIM objects out there!

Speedy is the UK’s leading provider of hire products and supporting services to the construction, industrial and infrastructure sectors. With a network of over 200 depots across the UK and Ireland, they offer a nationwide service and the largest hire fleet in the market.

Keen to actively support the digital engineering and BIM agenda of their major construction customers in line with the Government mandate deadline, Speedy began to investigate how they could best respond to an increase in requests from these customers for more detailed information about their plant and equipment hire assets. Speedy decided to provide a library of temporary works assets for their customers and began to look for a partner organisation to support this.

“BIM is one of the biggest changes to construction in recent times and Speedy wanted to be able to help customers and suppliers to embrace it. bimstore have enabled us to provide a solution to customer requirements, quickly, easily and in a professional manner.” Glyn Matthews, Head of Transformation, Speedy Services

Before creating content, Speedy spoke to customers to fully understand their requirements for BIM. As a result, they decided to build a library of temporary works assets that could be freely downloaded. The process included involving manufacturers of equipment and plant and informing them about BIM.

When it came to selecting a partner Speedy chose to work with bimstore to create, host and maintain their BIM objects, using our bimshelf feature to enable content to be accessed directly from the Speedy Services website. bimstore also created a bespoke augmented reality mobile app for Speedy.

“The decision to go with bimstore wasn’t that hard for Speedy, out of all of the content creators bimstore offered everything we wanted” Neil Craggs, BIM Coordinator, Speedy Services

Speedy decided to start with a few of their most popular temporary works products, as well as those that had been requested by customers. With an initial library of 60 products, they expected to build as more feedback was received. By making all of the visual objects and technical data available to the customer, this has enabled Speedy to understand the asset requirements for major projects at an earlier point in the process, helping ensure the right equipment can be provided exactly when it is needed.

Feedback on their BIM initiative has been extremely positive and Speedy’s clients have been impressed with their commitment to BIM and dedication to making their lives easier. Speedy are now working closely with a number of large clients to assist with their digital engineering projects.
