Aston Martin announce new architecture service

Aston Martin have launched a new design service to help car owners build their dream garage.

‘Automotive Galleries and Lairs’ is an extension of the world-renowned car manufacturers’ ‘Q’ service, which allows customers to fully-customise their vehicles by working closely with the in-house design team at Aston Martin to ensure that their car is truly unique.

“Imagine a home or luxury retreat built around your car. Picture creating the ultimate space to showcase your own automotive works of art. This is now achievable with this new offering,” said Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman.

“For the car enthusiast the garage is as important as the rest of the house and a bespoke auto gallery designed by Aston Martin that either focuses on showing off the car or is part of a larger, integrated entertainment space with simulators and such like, takes Aston Martin ownership to the next level.”

“Imagine a home or luxury retreat built around your car. Picture creating the ultimate space to showcase your own automotive works of art. This is now achievable with this new offering.”

Renderings that have been released so far include a lot of James Bond-esque imagery, which explains Aston Martin’s decision to describe the constructions as ‘lairs.’ One image shows a car being stored in a dark room beneath a pool, slightly resembling the Batcave. Other example designs depict a room overlooking a set of mountains and a car being contained within a waterfall reminiscent of the famous fitting from Singapore’s Jewel Changi Airport.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen such flamboyant ideas for garages. Back in 2015, Geneva-based studio B29 designed a “James Bond super garage” in a similar vein to these mock-ups. The design provided access to a secret underground area which is used by a member of the Swiss royal family to store their collection of vintage cars and motorcycles.

Studio founder Thomas Bregman said: "The first purpose of this building was to case a collection of motorcycles and luxury cars. It is kind of a man cave, or a James Bond super garage that our client ordered."
