Compact, high-density thermal energy storage for commercial and industrial applications

Sunamp Central Bank Mini (P58) is a high-performance thermal battery designed to store and release heat for commercial buildings and industrial processes.

Using Sunamp’s patented Plentigrade® P58 phase change material, each unit stores up to 80 kWh of thermal energy in a compact footprint. Central Bank Mini can store heat from multiple sources, including heat pumps, boilers, renewable energy systems and recovered waste heat, making that energy available when it is needed.

By decoupling heat generation from heat demand, Central Bank Mini can help businesses make better use of low-carbon and recovered heat, shift thermal loads and reduce the space required for thermal energy storage.

It can support applications including process heat, hot water for CIP and washdown, space heating, steam hotwell pre-heating and integration with higher-temperature heat pump systems.

Features

Up to 80 kWh nominal thermal storage capacity per unit, using Sunamp Plentigrade® P58 phase change material.

Up to 8 times smaller than an equivalent hot water thermal store, helping reduce plant room space requirements.

Ultra-low heat loss of approximately 3 kWh per 24 hours at a 45°C temperature differential.

Works with multiple heat sources, including heat pumps, electric and biogas boilers, solar thermal and geothermal systems.

Heat pumps and electric boilers can make use of electricity from the grid or on-site renewables including solar PV and wind generation.

Captures and stores recovered heat from sources including process cooling heat exchangers, chiller heat rejection, air compressors and air heat recovery, and flue gas heat recovery systems.

Supports useful heat demands including process heat, CIP and washdown hot water, space heating, steam hotwell pre-heating and higher-temperature heat pump systems.

Modular and scalable, with multiple Central Bank Mini units configurable in series or parallel to increase thermal storage capacity according to project requirements.

Two independent hydronic circuits – High Power and Low Power – provide flexibility for different charging, discharging and system integration requirements.

Supports load shifting and grid flexibility, allowing heat to be generated, captured or stored at a different time from when it is required.

Helps businesses make greater use of recovered heat and renewable energy that may otherwise be wasted or unavailable when demand occurs.

No regular maintenance is required for the Central Bank Mini thermal battery itself. Connected system components should be maintained in accordance with their applicable requirements.

Integrated heat exchangers and a sealed, insulated PCM cell provide efficient thermal storage and heat transfer.
